Lead Management

Managing cardiac implantable electronic device (CIED) leads has never been more important. Patients with CIEDs are on a lifelong journey, and Spectranetics is there to make sure it’s a healthy one. Making the right decision at the right time, for every patient, is critical. Lives depend on it. Explore the tile grid below to learn more about Lead Management and the products that ensure lead extraction is done safely, responsibly and predictably.

Lead Management Toolbox

Philips Laser System (PLS)

The only PMA approved laser system and disposable catheters for the treatment of peripheral and coronary arterial disease (download PDF brochure). Photoablation is the use of light to break down, vaporize and remove matter. The PLS laser system facilitates photoablation via a variety of Philips laser catheters to remove binding arterial plaques.

When lead removal is the right choice for a patient, the Lead Locking Device (LLD) provides the flexibility and traction needed for safe lead removal (download PDF brochure). LLD combines the best of the original LLD family and enhanced tip design with ease-of-use features to provide a flexible traction solution for leads targeted for removal. The device provides a stable traction platform by deploying a braided mesh to lock securely along the entire lead lumen.

Safely and efficiently removing leads depends on tools that give you versatility and control (download PDF brochure). GlideLight Laser Sheath offers the unprecedented ability to customize the laser’s repetition rate throughout a procedure. At 80Hz, the GlideLight Laser Sheath allows you to use up to 55% less advancement force, and advance up to 62% more efficiently through tough binding sites than SLS II.

A tear in the Superior Vena Cava (SVC) during a lead extraction procedure is rare, occurring in just 0.05% of cases. But when a tear does occur, the Bridge™ Occlusion Balloon can be quickly deployed to stem blood loss and allow time for transition to surgical repair. (download PDF brochure).

With TightRail, flexibility meets unparalleled control (download PDF brochure). The tool’s flexible shaft helps physicians remain coaxial to the lead. The unique shaft technology maintains forward progression through tortuous vasculature and commonly encountered fibrotic and calcified lesions. The dilating blade remains shielded until activated, putting physicians in control and allowing counter-traction at the targeted lead’s distal tip.

The bidirectional mechanism rotates 574° with each full trigger activation – 287° clockwise and 287° counterclockwise – while extending the blade just 0.02 inches, or 0.5 mm. The outer shaft does not rotate with the blade, so using an additional outer sheath is optional, based on your preference and the clinical scenario.

TightRail Sub-C Rotating Dilator Sheath enhances the portfolio of mechanical devices for lead extraction (download PDF brochure). TightRail Sub-C is specifically designed for the challenges of the subclavian region, including vessel entry when fibrosis and calcium are present. TightRail Sub-C helps solve the complex issues surrounding vascular access with an improved cutting tip, lower profile for safe passage under tight clavicular spots and a shielded cutting mechanism that allows you to get through occlusions with lower risk of damaging the targeted lead or adjacent leads.

TightRail Sub-C can be used alone or in conjunction with GlideLight or other TightRail sheaths to safely and efficiently remove cardiac leads.
